Are Your Sports Memorabilia Faux Or..
There is a huge interest in sports memorabilia, and sports-related items
include signed commemorative photos, baseballs, footballs, basketballs,
pucks and jerseys. A Google search of companies hawking these items
comes up with almost 5 million businesses!
Some of the items on offer cost thousands of dollars.
Where there are so many eager and gullible customers, fraud is sure to appear. A San Diego federal judge who recently sentenced several sports autograph forgers to prison said, "Life, liberty and the pursuit of the national pastime, has been undone". The prosecution stemmed from an FBI investigation called Operation Bullpen, which closed down a professional criminal organization that forged and sold bogus autographs.
60 search warrants were served, more than 2 dozen people arrested, and a warehouse with 10 million dollars worth of forged merchandise was seized. The ring leaders received 3 years in prison and forfeiture or assets to the IRS. Both current and "vintage" items were involved. Any sports fan who has a signed souvenir may now want to question its authenticity.
Phil Halpren, the assistant U.S. attorney who worked to prosecute the forgers stated that fraud is so pervasive in the sports memorabilia market that unless you personally see an item being signed by the athlete, odds are greater than fifty percent that it is fake. The most athletes most well-known the the public are popular with forgers, too. Halpren said, "If you are looking at a Mark McGuire signature, it's alost a guarantee, 99.9 percent it is a forgery." Certificates of authenticity can be fabricated just as easily as the collectible item they supposedly validate, so this is no protection.
Vendors are fighting back in an effort to maintain the integrity of the market. Disney, which owns ESPN, will begin next year to auction signed sports memorabilia online. Disney says it will authenticate the signatures with holograms encrypted with the item's identifying information and package seals, videotaping the entire process.
Sophisticated forgers can even produce holographic seals which appear, on casual inspection, to be real. However most forgers are amateurs, and the more sophisticated the anti-forgery system, the less likely criminals are to attempt to copy it.
Baseball and football are most popular in America, but a few famous hockey players such as Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr are popular targets for forgery as well.
With all the items available, both off and on the internet, fans can avoid a lot of fraud by using common sense. For example, a baseball autographed by Babe Ruth selling for $500 is obviously a fake, because such a price is unbelievably low, too low for real market conditons. Also, it pays to know a little bit about the development of baseballs and pens. If you see baseballs supposedly signed in the '20s and '30s with Sharpie pens, these are obviously fake, because these pens were not invented yet in that era. To quote Phil Halpren : "I have seen Babe Ruth balls signed on a Bobby Brown American League President ball. So, you know, he was president in the early '80s. That's impossible to have been done. But someone did it."
So, while it's enjoyable to own a piece of sports history, the motto to follow is : buyer beware. Unless you are a professional trader who knows how to authenticate merchandise, don't buy an item strictly for its potential resale value, because you may be disappointed by what you eventually get for it. Buy an item you personally like and intend to keep, and don't spend thousands of dollars. This ensures that you will be happy when you look at your purchase, without the lingering doubt that you have wasted a large sum of money on something of dubious value.

Buyers Guide to Home Theater Projectors
Over the years, I have grown really attached to my home theater system.
I must say, of all the rooms in the house, my own little movie theater
is the one I could not live without. I am absolutely in love with my
home theater system and, if you are anything like me, I am sure you will
love yours too. I found, when I was initially building my system, that
there was so much information to absorb. Every product out there
seemed better than the next, and I found myself unsure about which to
buy. Here are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for a new home
theater projector.
There are two main types of projectors on the market; DLP and LCD. DLP stands for digital light processing. It was invented by Texas Instruments, and utilizes a microscopic array of over 2 million mirrors. DLP has a higher contrast than LCD, but there are some unfavorable consumer reports that note something called the "rainbow effect". The "rainbow effect" is noticeable when looking from one side of the screen to the other, and is characterized by a sudden burst of color.
LCD stands for liquid crystal display. These projectors have three distinct glass LCD panels inside; one for each component of the video signal (red, green, and blue). While DLP chips reflect light, the LCD panels allow light to pass through them. LCD projectors produce brighter images, and they are known for having excellent color saturation. In the end, you will be hard-pressed to notice a great difference between the two types of projection systems
When shopping for a new projector, keep your particular needs in the forefront of your thoughts. As I mentioned above, it is really easy to lose yourself in the minutiae of each particular system. Connectivity is a definitely something to be mindful of. Make sure that you are able to connect all of your components, including your gaming system. Nothing beats playing Halo in real-life size! Contract ratio is another important factor; the higher the ratio, the better the picture will be.
The brightness of your projector is another thing to consider. Light output is measured in ANSI (American National Standards Institute) lumens. You will want to avoid a projector that produces anything shy of 1000 lumens. As you are likely aware, the projection resolution is extremely important. This refers to the number of pixels that can be displayed on the screen. Go for something that is no less than 1024x768, as this will allow you to fully appreciate the depth and quality of HDTV. In the end, you should buy the projector that is in line with your needs and your budget. Soprano's is coming on right now! Time to go!

Boot Camp Short, Sharp Shock
The term 'boot camp' can have a multitude of meanings, though through
them all there remains a common theme – hard work, and no talking back!
Perhaps most frequently associated with the military, the phrase has
been adopted by a variety of other organisations seeking to imbue their
efforts with the same no-nonsense mentality, and as the popularity of
boot camp type programs increases, it seems that a touch of discipline
is what many of us need.
The question of whether societal expectations have undergone a gross unleashing is not a new one, and it is a fairly well established tradition that any generation will lament the habits and preferences of the one that follows. It is arguably only in recent years, however, that criticisms of the current generation's excesses have trickled down from above and younger people find themselves questioning their own choices. While debates rage on regarding our apparent unwillingness to assume responsibility for our actions, an increasing number of people are taking drastic action to change their lives for good by engaging in boot camps of various kinds.
While one of the most notorious types of boot camp must remain the one to which parents send their errant teens, a huge number of these discipline driven programs are specifically designed for consenting adults who find themselves unable to deal with particular problems alone. 'Fat camps', for instance, are available for overweight people who have been unsuccessful in losing weight with solitary dieting. Employing the strict routines and rigorously filled timetables formerly associated with the military, these camps help those who may have been unable to help themselves.
But do these kinds of programs really work? Some would argue that while immediate effects are certainly seen, the achievement of more long-term results requires something more. It could even be argued that rather than bypassing our 'blame-someone-else' culture, these boot camps perpetuate this mindset by using what might be described as bully tactics to forcibly change the subject's lifestyle. And while behavioral therapy can be effective, can what was learned in the strict environment of boot camp really be translated into every day life?
Most experts agree that boot camps are not a long-term solution, but rather a stepping-stone toward more permanent change. Providing a short, sharp shock, they deal out a quick reality check that can lead a person to seek out a more enduring plan for change. Boot camps are perhaps not the answer, but they are a good place to start looking for it.

The History of the Television to Today's Plasma TV
For the average person, even a regular television set is something of a
technological marvel that becomes almost unbelievable when considering
today's latest and greatest advances, including the plasma TV. Take a
brief look at the history of the technology that we now take for
granted.
As early as the 1950s, people were beginning to have television sets in their homes, though the practice of a home television set wouldn't become widespread until the 1960s. Suddenly, the average person could be a bystander for historic events, catch the latest news and spend hours being entertained.
In those early days of television, an analog signal transmitted the audio and video that would become a picture on the home television set. The early home sets used a tube technology – it took ages to warm up sufficiently to produce a picture. The analog signal was prone to fuzzy pictures that could fade out completely with various conditions. A home typically had an antenna, either on top of the television set itself or standing outside the house. Adjusting that antenna could help the reception of the picture.
Many things have changed since those early days of television. Analog signals are still used, though high definition digital signals are becoming more common.
Remarkably, there have always been experiments and advances in the works, many appearing on the drawing boards long before they're introduced to the public. In the case of plasma TVs, the idea has been around almost as long as the video technology. The first plasma screen was actually constructed by a college professor and his student as early as 1964. The idea was sound, but the high-end television set simply wasn't practical for the signal technology of the day. After all, there was little need for a screen that could produce a better picture than the television stations could send!
The reason for that early development wasn't aimed at the television industry, but was to be used for displaying information in an educational setting. When the television industry started looking at newer, better technology for the tube-type television sets commonly being used in the 1960s, plasma was actually considered, though only briefly. In the end, the more practical idea became the liquid display screen television screens and it would be many more years before the plasma TV option was again considered.

Freelance Design tricks - How to get away with murder in the workplace
Every large design company whether it's a multi-national branding
corporation or a regular down at heel tatty magazine publisher needs to
fill holes in the workforce. If the canny freelance designer plays his
or her cards right, he can earn a tidy sum while essentially loafing at
home. Here's how...
Have a handy repotoire of excuses lined up
Everyone has heard of the line 'the dog ate it...' or 'I left it in my jeans when it went into the wash' to avoid handing in an assignment but how often do we actually use them? Some of these old well worn excuses are due for a renaissance period. A boss is far more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt when you use one of these old dogs as they will question your sanity for attempting to use such an audacious excuse. Reverse psychology. Use it to your advantage
Backstabbing - Is it so wrong?
A favourite trick to pull on another member of staff is to sow the seeds of doubt in the rest of the full-timers minds about your chosen fall guy. Office politics can play a huge role in screwing with their heads. Why not try surreptiously planting somebody elses scissors or staplers in the victims drawer and asking to borrow them. When they can't find them say you saw so and so using them earlier. Sit back and watch the tension build.
An apple a day...
Being a teachers pet can sometimes work wonders when you haven't bothered to layout those pages that were given to you 3 weeks ago. Coming into the office armed with a nice rich chocolate gateau for everyone will smooth over any resentment for your tarde lackadaisacal attitude to work. Another good idea is to be the coffee gopher at regular half hour intervals. When you're gone they'll really miss you and because of the caffeine withdrawal will be snapping at one another.
Outsource and reap the rewards
Everybodies doing it so why not you? If you've landed a hefty long term design job that is a regular payer, why not bump your rates up and get somebody in India or China to knock out the work for you. Unethical? Perhaps but since when did you consider the plight of individuals in far flung places? You can explain away the discrepances in language and grammar by claiming you've been working all hours
Getting away with murder
There comes a time and place when despite your best efforts to cover your ass and blame others for your laziness and ineptitude, you are going to be found out. At this stage with disgruntled colleagues lining up to put in a bad word about you, there may be no other option left but to use the failsafe rear guard action of killing someone. This will have the effect of distracting attention from your less than honest approach to handing in graphic designs on time. It's probably best to avoid murdering the boss as questions are likely to be raised and you may find the new apointed editor will not see you as part of the new team format. No, go for one of the more replacable members of staff such as Ian the sub-editor, the resulting fracas will buy you enough time to work on some new scams at another organisation
So there you go, use these tricks as and when you feel they may benefit you. But be careful the cops are sometimes pretty keen to clamp down on office genocide - only use this last option under extreme duress.

Model Train Scales
When you get into model railroading, you quickly learn about model train
scales. Every model train that is produced has a scale letter
associated with it, such as: HO, O and so forth. The scale let's you
know how true to life it is and more importantly, the physical size of
the train itself. The scale refers to the size in comparison with the
real thing. For example, 1:220 means the real version of the model train
is 220 times larger. If you are a newcomer to model trains, the amount
of space will be the first factor in determining which scale to go with.
For the hardcore model railroader, mixing scales is a great joy when
space permits. Let's take a look at some of the model train scales and
minimum space requirements.
Z Scale trains are 1:220, which means they are very small. I call these "cute" trains and they are perfect for those with an extremely limited space. As with any scale, you can expand the layout as large as you want to go.
Next up is the N Scale, which is 1:160. N scale trains are semi-popular and are great if you want your focus to be on your layout and not the train itself. They are small as well, so you can fit these trains into minimal space.
HO Scale model trains are 1:87 and the most popular scale of model train with model railroaders. They offer a good level of detail and allow you to fit a nice size track into an average size space. I like HO scale trains because they blend in great with any type scenery and you get a good balance as a result
The O Scales, my favorite, are 1:48 and very popular as well. Lionel has been making great O scale model trains for many decades. These model trains are larger and require a good amount of space for a proper layout. It is possible to setup a small oval track in about a 5-foot by 5-foot area. Although the track will seem small because of the train's size, it is better than nothing. If your layout is smaller, the O scale train will dominate the view.
There are a couple other scales, such as S and G, but these are the main ones I choose to discuss in this article. Only you can decide which scale is right for you. Some, with limited space, prefer the O scale model trains, even though they dominate the layout, because of their detail and size. O scale trains are "meatier" and are really great for pacifying the children.
All trains have a variance in quality so one scale is not necessarily more expensive than another. Although, I have found O scale model life to be a little bit pricier. You really can't go wrong with model railroading. It is highly rewarding and wholesome. In the end, you might find yourself collecting model trains across the entire scale spectrum. Get out there and ride the rails!

A Right Media Mix Can Make the Difference
Branding is no longer simply about visual appeal (or the cherry in the
apple pie example, as given in my earlier article). Unfortunately, many
graphic design firms who position themselves as advertising agencies
believe that branding your corporate identity is all about developing
great looking visual solutions.
However, there is much more to branding than just looking good. Particularly in this web 2.0 eras, where a powerful web presence has become a vital ingredient of your branding strategy, developing the right media mix holds the key to building powerful brand equity.
In other words, a right media mix would mean:
• Creative design solutions (the design, color, and content of your ads, marketing collateral and website enhance your brand equity, attract customers, and generate sales)
• Web development (every product/service worth its name has a web presence these days, some have truly interactive, animated sites encouraging customer involvement),
• Viral marketing (vitally important in today's age of social networking, tagging, podcasting, blogs, forums, wikis and what have you)
• Television commercial production, print media advertising (traditional media cannot be overlooked)
• Strategic films (have become necessary elements of roadshows, exibhitions and other promotional campaigns)
• Corporate video production (a very important tool for branding your corporate identity)
• Direct marketing (marketing collaterals need to be just as effective and resonant with the overall branding scheme as the communicate directly with the customer)
• Outdoor advertising (hoardings, roadshows, participations in business fairs, exhibitions, etc)
There are some interactive advertising agencies that have recognized the need of the hour - developing creative design solutions that employ user-centric investigation and involve critical and systematic thinking. User-centric means understanding of needs and priorities of end user; the clients' customers, their channel partners, users, and brand communities.
So if you want to register your brand as one that is synonymous with customer loyalty, you must develop a complete package, keeping the customer as the prime objective and organizing product stories around the way they prefer to learn about, compare, select and confirm purchases, connecting brands and their experiences.

Find a home for your blog
Find a focus for your posts
Learn "Bletiquette"
Persevere
Find a home for your blog! You need a host for your blog, some are free, some charge a small amount per month for their service, some are simple to use and some require more technical knowledge, some have more features than others; choose carefully, once you've established your blog and have a few regular readers you may not want to change your address (your URL).
Start by surfing the Internet and the blogs to see what bloggers have to say about their hosting programs. Don't get in over your head by picking a blog host that requires a technical expertise that is beyond your current capabilities. There are many free hosts that are more than adequate to start you off and are customizable -- as you gain new technical skills you can edit your blog template to make your blog look like you want it to look and do almost anything you want it to do, all without changing your URL.
If you are using free hosts start blogs at two or three host sites just to see which one you like best and which one gives you the most capabilities right 'out of the box.' When you find one you are happy with, be nice and go back and cancel your other blogs.
Find a focus for your posts! Most every blog has a theme, a theme that sets the tone for most (not necessarily all) of the posts on that blog. Your blog can be a topical blog that focuses on a special interest of yours (politics, religion, health care, science, engineering, cooking etc.); a personal blog that focuses on what you are doing that day, where you have been, where you are going or any aspect of your life's journey; or a showcase blog that displays your writing, art, photography, or etc.. Some posts will not fall into your blogs main theme and that's OK -- your blog is a reflection of you, and we all have different moods . . . we all 'wear different hats;' don't decide not to post just because you feel like writing 'something different.'
"Bletiquette!" The objective of most bloggers is to attract a regular readership; to do that you need to display some basic (really common sense) blog etiquette (bletiquette!):
When commenting on a post, stick to the point, don't get personal or abusive.
Never comment as "Anonymous;" if you are ashamed to use your actual blogger name, don't comment.
Try to respond to all comments on your post, even if it is just to say "thanks for commenting" (but don't expect all bloggers to do this).
Don't get personal by asking personal questions unless you have a long-standing relationship with the other blogger; bloggers enjoy the relative anonymity of a blog and a blogger name.
If you are "flamed" (verbally attacked for something you wrote) don't get into a "flame war;" respond politely or not at all.
Never take a block of text, a unique phrase, a picture, a graphic or anything else from another blog or from any web page and use it in your post as is, without clearly indicating where it came from.
Persevere! Bloggers blog! That's what they do! If you post every day you will improve not only your technique but also your readership; don't give up.
Bloggers are very much like novelists. Novelists write every day and finally reach the end of the novel. Then they submit the novel to publishers, file their rejection notices and resubmit to other publishers. Eventually, every novelist who perseveres gets published . . . eventually every blogger who perseveres gets a loyal readership and his or her own measure of success.

Web designing is a critical decision
Today, the best way to reach to the every corner of this world is by
developing a website. It will just be a matter of few clicks and you
will be in front of anyone who may be sitting anywhere in this world.
That is the charisma of internet and websites. However, when you talk
about websites, it doesn't mean that all you need is a web space with a
particular domain name; in fact, there are a lot of other things that
have to be kept in mind.
Visual appeal of your website will be the first thing that will earn you a lot of visitors. Secondly, it will be the systematic approach that you must use in presenting the web contents and information about your products as that will make you to convert those visitors in regular buyers. So, it is all about web designing in the most effective way.
If you are looking to design a website, then the first option that you can always choose is to hire a professional who may let you bring your dream into reality. However, you can also do that on your own if you are having some previous knowledge about web designing. Apparently, it's all about creativity, but, in reality, it's much more than creativity as it requires a certain level of proficiency in dealing with specific designing tools.
Nevertheless, you can find these tools online and can proceed with your web designing. Also, spending some time on reading the tutorials on using some specific tools will always help. Also, there are so many languages and scripts that have to be understood in order to create a nice and unbeatable web design. You can also choose as if you require static web pages or dynamic web pages.
However, it will be relatively difficult and will involve greater awareness about technologies to create dynamic web pages as you may have to use JavaScript, Actionscript and other such scripting to make your web site lively.
To create dynamic contents, flash is another thing that can be used and in most situations, it will be the better idea to do that as there are some softwares that help you to produce graphics according to your liking. Although, it takes some time and efforts to produce a dynamic page with flash animations, but, it can really uplift the visual appeal of your website which is absolutely important.
However, when you will be designing your website, you must understand that it should not include so many heavy graphics including pictures and other electronic contents as they can hinder the speed of your web site. It is the basic thing of designing a web page as if your site will take time to get loaded, you will end up losing customers as no one have the time to wait for your site to load, especially, when they have other options to explore.
So, keep it simple, yet powerful along with a simple and comprehensible navigational structure which is momentous as well. Also, pay a sufficient attention to scaling and color scheme of your website to exude that professionalism that can grip the imagination of a casual visitor.

Flat Screen Monitors: A Technological Wonder
You probably are already aware that there are two types of computer
monitors available today: the big and clunky cathode-ray (CRT) tube
monitors and the newer flat screen monitors. These flat panel monitors
have a number of advantages over the older type of computer monitors.
They are far sleeker, more space-saving and weigh much less. Flat screen
monitors are also designed to be more energy-efficient and reduces eye
strain. Flat screen monitors use the technology called Liquid Crystal
Display or LCD. There are also flat screen CRT monitors available. Both
LCD flat panel monitors and CRT flat-screen monitors are fast gaining
popularity as a much sleeker and more modern alternative to traditional,
bulky monitors of yesterday.
An LCD or liquid crystal display is characterized by a thin and flat display device that is composed of either color or monochrome pixels that are arranged in front of a light source or a reflector. There are two types of LCDs: transmissive and reflective displays. These types differ according to the source of light. A reflective LCD is illuminated by exterior light. A common example of a reflective LCD is the display of a digital watch. Meanwhile, a transmissive display draws its light source from the back through a backlight. This category of LCDs usually requires high luminance levels. Televisions, computer displays, PDAs and mobile phones use transmissive LCDs.
Flat screen monitors have significant advantages over the traditional CRT monitors. Because these monitors are perfectly flat visually and physically, they offer a clearer, more vivid and undistorted pictures from any angle. The images on a flat panel monitor is much more crisp and high quality. This is the reason why flat screen monitors significantly reduce eye strain among its users, another important advantage. There is no curvature on the screen's surface that will distort any on-screen images. And since the pictures are sharper with more brilliant colors, staring at a flat screen monitor becomes more of a pleasure than a strain.
Flat screen monitors are also much more ergonomic. This means that these types of monitors follow ergonomic requirements and thus add comfort and convenience for the worker. The flat screen monitor is viewable from any angle and is typically fitted on a swivel base with adjustable headlight. This allows for more freedom of movement for the user since the flat screen monitor can be easily adjusted to meet the specific viewing needs. Flat screen monitors are also very space-efficient taking up less desk real estate than older computer monitors. Most LCD flat screen monitors are only about an inch thick and weighs nearly five kilograms.
If you are planning to buy a new flat screen monitor, there are some aspects you should consider. First, choose the resolution that is most appropriate to your needs. Next, assess the price. Generally, flat screen monitors will cost you about $200-$250 for a CRT screen while LCD flat panel monitors cost $500 to $700. Both LCD and CRT flat screen monitors have an average lifespan of about 5 to 7 years, and also come with warranty ranging from 1 to 3 years. Before you purchase, make sure that you do your research on the many different brands of flat screen monitors available in the market today. A flat screen monitor will definitely enhance your computing experience, whether for work or for play.

Why Dandruff Shampoo Can Prevent Thinning Hair?
At any one time, about 10 percent of the hair on your scalp is in a
resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new
hair starts to grow in its place. This growing phase lasts for 2 to 6
years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this
phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one
time.
Hair loss is a common problem among men and women. About 25 percent of men begin balding by age 30 and two-thirds begin losing hair by age 60, according to the American Medical Association.
A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.
Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment of the thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.
Dandruff is one of the causes of Hair loss. Dandruff is caused by a fungus known as malazzesia globosa. This fungus is commonly found floating in the air which is why dandruff can be treated, but not cured. Studies have shown that with only 90 minutes of continuous scratching by the fingernails, it is possible to remove all of the cuticular scale, a protective covering on individual hairs, off of a hair shaft. This loss leaves the hair shaft weakened and permanently damaged, making it easily susceptible to breakage and hair loss.
"The most effective dandruff shampoos and conditioners contain zinc pyrithione," advised Dr. Draelos. "These ingredients leave behind thin plate-like pieces of medicine on the scalp to prevent regrowth of the fungus, thus acting as a preventive measure for both dandruff and the hair loss associated with scratching."
Therefore, don't just ignore the itch, invest in proper treatment.

Dare To Be Yourself, There's Nobody Like You
There's no need for you to imitate anybody else; they already exist. Do
you want to be just like your colleague? If the Creator wanted two
identical colleagues, then He would have created a copy of the first. If
the Creator needed another person just like your neighbor, then He
would have immediately created two of them. He never cloned somebody, so
why would you? Every snowflake is different. Creation is not
duplication.
Instead of copying an existing model, He created a whole new YOU! Why? Because He needs you to be just the way you are! Why bother and try to be somebody else?
Don't imitate others. Observe them, learn from them, but don't try to be like them. Learn their skills but then implement them in your own life and move forward on your own road. Because you are walking your own road, you cannot follow the footsteps of somebody else, nor can someone else walk your road for you. They have their road, you have yours.
Why did the Creator give all of us different fingerprints, different ears, different noses? Wouldn't it have been much easier for Him to make all of us out of a single mold? One model; no differences, no comparisons. He could have done it, but He didn't. Why not? Apparently He needs us to be individual. He needs us to be different. Certainly this fact adds to the pleasure of the game. If all the characters in the play were alike, then it wouldn't be much fun to watch. He surely likes us all to be different. And He surely needs us all to be different!
Given the undisputed fact that we are all different, why would you try to be like somebody else? Why change your looks or your body with plastic surgery? Why not be happy with the way you are? I'm not just talking about appearance, but also about talents. Character. Everybody is unique. While longing for talents you don't have, you are neglecting those talents that you do have. This is rather counter-productive, no? You have been gifted with a unique set of talents, so find out what they are and develop them.
There is no coincidence. Everything in the universe exists for a reason. You are not talented by accident! Neither is it haphazard that you don't have some talents you would like to have.
If you don't have a nightingale voice, you were not meant to sing. You can do something else with your life according to the talents you do have, and leave the singing to someone who is naturally equipped for that. If you have no acting talents, you should not act. If you weigh too much, you'd better start dreaming about something else than being a fashion model.
Another undisputed fact is that everybody is gifted with his or her own unique talents. Make no mistake! Talents are not only about activities like singing, acting, dancing, painting, writing or excellence in sports. Your unique talent could be your spontaneity, your enthusiasm, your connection with animals, caring for the disabled, your generosity, being a good teacher or public speaker, being a loving community member, or being a good problem solver. It could be your capacity to love, your natural joy, your brilliance, intelligence, easily assimilating new languages, radiating beauty, having a funny way of expressing yourself, making others laugh, kindness, tenderness, and many more. The list of possible talents is very, very long indeed…
What matters in the end is for you to be yourself, right? To be yourself is to find out what your unique talents are. Unique, you say? Others are spontaneous too! Plenty of people are generous or friendly. True, but your uniqueness lays in the combination of your key talents. Find out what your prominent talents are and how you can put them together. In the synergy and alignment of your key talents lies the beauty of your uniqueness.
It would be a big waste of time trying to be someone else. You are at your best being yourself! The world needs you as you are, exactly as you are! Dare to be yourself. The more you dare to be yourself, the more freedom you will feel. The more freedom you feel, the more you will dare. Daring and freedom support each other to re-create your unique self in an ever expanding celebration of Life. Your life.

Media Protocol for Business and Life
When I was a Venue Media manager with the Commonwealth Games, I received
some of the best coverage of the venues that I was looking after. I had
some people ask me what was my secret.
I first inquired what they were doing and found out that some of them had an attitude of seeing the media as something to be suspicious of, to keep at bay and give as little as possible. In turn, the media had little regard for them as well.
There are many people who treat the media this way as well when it comes to their business, and then hope that the media will give them great coverage and a good story as well. This is a receipt for disaster.
First, true media does not have the time or energy to "GET" everyone. Often the people end up getting themselves in their worry or nervousness. They may say something dumb or negative or attack the reporter who is just doing his or her job. In most cases, the media does not have an ulterior motive and is just collecting information. If you do something foolish, remember though that it is not the media's job to help you out of a crisis.
When you treat people with respect, they are much more likely to treat you the same way. Yes, there could be exception, but in most circumstances, I have found that it was never about me and more about what was happening to them at the time. For example, I had three cases where the people weren't great to me, and in each case, they came back to apologize with gift or peace offering in hand.
They were each dealing with personal issues and / or were having a bad day. With forgiveness, you create a friend, someone who is more willing to help you out in the future.
Keep in mind that we need a symbiotic relationship with the media. There will be times when you want to announce an upcoming event, a breakthrough or change in your organization etc. How you have treated them in the past will affect what kind of coverage you will get and whether it is good or not.
The media can supply you with some very valuable free coverage and coverage that is 3rd hand. This coverage gives credibility to what you are doing or saying.
And should something happen that could be negative, the media may write the story whether you cooperate or not. For the most part, it is better to have your comments included rather than them only having half the facts or speculation to go on.
If it is a special event that will last for a while, coffee, treats and smiles go a long way with having them stay and giving good coverage. The cost of a coffee and a treat is small potatoes compared with the coverage that you can receive.
Oh, and my secret, just that. I treated them like human beings. I offered to get them coffee. And when the game went late, on the break I took them up to the athlete and coaches dinner area and gave them sandwiches and drinks. They were able to get great interviews and we received great coverage.
This can be a metaphor for many areas in our lives. Ask yourself, "How am I treating the people in my life that can help me the most?"

Bird Watching in Tobago
Once you catch birding fever, it will overtake your entire life. In
fact, you will start planning trips around it as can occur with bird
watching in Tobago.
Bird Watching in Tobago
Exotic is the term that best defines Tobago bird watching, an exciting and rewarding experience for bird watchers. Tobago is the smaller island of the Trinidad and Tobago nation, the southern most island of the Caribbean, located off the East Coast of Venezuela.
Tobago bird watching focus on the marine environment and coral reefs as an unusual setting for bird watching. This island is home to numerous colonies of nesting Red-billed Tropicbirds, Magnificent Frigate birds, and Red-footed Boobies. Tobago is the place where introduction to birding in South American began.
Tobago has around 150 to 200 bird species of the 467 recorded in both Trinidad and Tobago. However, Tobago is a drier island, further offshore than Trinidad. It offers great birding with species not found anywhere else in Central America, including specialty birds, such as the Caribbean Martin, White-fringed Antwren, and Pale-vented Pigeon.
Birds of Tobago are not usually seen on Trinidad, the reason why it is convenient to take one of the many local tours, or schedule a bird watching activity with your actual tour operator. Another advantage of ecotourism and bird watching at Trinidad and Tobago is migration.
Some bird watching ventures are scheduled around the dates when birds form North America and other Caribbean Islands migrate to Tobago, adding a rewarding experience to bird watching. Tours offer visitors the nonpareil opportunity to watch jacamars, cocricos, hummingbirds, peregrine falcons, white-tailed sabrewings, ruby-topaz, and more.
However, you can simply travel to Tobago pretty much any time of the year for good birding. Once there, planning a bird watching excursion is easy, particularly with the help of islanders who know better than anyone else where the best birding viewpoints are located. In fact, most hotels and resorts strongly suggest not engaging in bird watching without a local guide.
If you are making the decision to head to Tobago for some bird watching, you can pick up an excellent book written by William Murphy - A Birder's Guide to Trinidad and Tobago. Murphy knows his stuff.

Accelerated Bachelors Degrees
Accelerated bachelors degree programs are designed to accommodate busy
adults who have not earned their bachelor's degree. An accelerated
bachelor's degree course may last one to two years. Many colleges and
universities are offering this option to working people who are too busy
to attend regular classes.
The cost of an accelerated bachelor degree program can range from $15,000 to $25,000. You can browse the Internet for colleges or universities that offer this program in order to find out the specific fees, courses, subjects, duration, etc. You can e-mail or call these institutions for more information, or request a catalog through the mail.
Most programs entail compulsory attendance of classes and study groups periodically, which may be one night for each per week. Since attendance for classes and study groups is not optional, you'll need to have a prescribed percentage of attendance, somewhere between 60%-70%, to be able to take your final tests.
Entrance requirements for an accelerated bachelor degree program may include proof of high school graduation or a GED (general educational development) certificate, a minimum of 60 college credits with a GPA (grade point average) of 2.0 or higher, and a minimum of two years of practical work experience.
Business administration, technology management and human relations are some of the most common courses offered by programs like this but there are a host of other courses too, including health care, education, social and behavioral science, and e-Commerce. So it's best to do a little research while keeping in mind your interests, line of work and career before making any decisions.

The Wondrous Benefits of Soy Protein
Soy protein is emerging as one of the great alternative protein sources
for human consumption. Health experts are all excited about how soy
protein can change the face of nutrition. What's all the rage? Here are
some great reasons to get with soy protein.
Soy Protein is Plant Protein
Soy beans contain complete protein and have one of the best protein digestibilities among all protein sources. Soy beans also contain little or no fat and have virtually no cholesterol. Lactose intolerant ones will be pleased to know that soy beans contain no lactose.
Being a plant protein, soy is free from steroids and antibiotics animal protein contains. It is also free from the parasites that contaminate some of these products. They also contain none of the diseases one can contract from mean sources such as Mad Cow Disease, and Foot and Mouth Disease.
Vegetarians love this bean as it provides a comparable - if not better - source of protein as compared to its animal counterpart. It provides a protein that is better and easier to digest and is comparable to most protein supplements.
Soy Beans are Very Versatile
Soy beans are very versatile. Various cuisines, especially Asian ones recognize the value of the humble soy bean. A variety of naturally yummy delicacies are all soy based: tofu, soy pudding, Soya milk, and meat substitutes - not to mention condiments such as soy sauce, and hoi sin sauce.
To counter the problem of world hunger, the growing of soybeans has been suggested. Not only are soybeans easy to grow and harvest, they will grow pretty much anywhere and produces much in a little time. There have been farmers reported to have replaced their entire crop line with soy bean plants. These hardy little plants produce much per harvest, and, as said earlier, can grow in even the most trying terrain.
The Great Substitute
Soy is low in fat and can be used to substitute most protein sources. When cooking, you may use soy substitutes instead of flour for a low fat alternative. This makes it a great protein source for those that are looking to lose weight without compromising their protein requirements.
Bodybuilders are considering how this can make their jobs a lot easier. Without the fat and with all the protein goodness - easily digestible at that - bodybuilding has just received a great blessing of a food.
Although these bodybuilders are currently debating how soy can be a help to bodybuilders, it doesn't take away anything from what soy can contribute to the overall health of a person.
It is very advisable to stick to natural protein rather than processes protein if possible, as processed foods typically have some risk attached to them. The best use of this food can be attributed to how it perfectly fits into anyone's low-fat, high-protein diet.
Soy products can be incorporated into shakes and drinks. And being lactose-free, lactose intolerant people will still be able to get their milkshake fix without having to suffer so.
Soy products are also a great source of other nutrients such as saponins, isoflavones, and phytosterol. Saponins help support a healthy immune system. It also combines with cholesterol to avoid increased absorption of cholesterol in the body. Phytosterols also help reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the body in the same way saponins do.
Isoflavones are powerful antioxidants and prevent the effects of free radicals in the body. They prevent many of the signs of aging and have been known to help prevent cancer. This alone makes soy a miracle protein source in its own right.
Isoflavones, along with vitamins A,C, and E are among the front liners in the fight against such disease - they also counter the effects of pollution, and stress.
How Much is Too Much
Unlike other protein sources, it is pretty safe to consume a wide amount of soy products. While allergies to soy products exist, cases are few and far between. When changing to a soy diet, however, it would be best to consult your physician or your nutritionist. Ask specifically if the soy interferes with any prescription drugs you are taking.
Soy can be great blessing for people who are looking for a great source of protein that does not entail the side effects of most of the other sources. It would be advisable for one to explore how it can improve one's diet.

Digital Cameras
Sales of digital cameras seem to be exploding. This is not surprising as
the quality of images from digital cameras improves and they become
more affordable. In addition, consumers are becoming more comfortable
with the idea of digital photography.
There are so many different types of digital cameras available choosing one which is best for your needs can become a very confusing decision. There are several things to consider when choosing a digital camera.
Types of Digital Camera.
There are basically three types of cameras whether you care shooting film or digital. Point and Shoot cameras, Prosumer cameras and professional quality cameras.
1. Point and Shoot cameras are fully automatic. They do everything for you. The camera choosing the correct exposure and whether a flash is needed. The photographer only needs to point and shoot.
2. Prosumer Cameras. These cameras are a step up from point and shoot cameras and allow the user to either shoot in fully automatic mode or to have some control over the exposure by using specific exposure modes. For example, there might be a portrait mode, an action mode, and a close up mode.
3. Professional Cameras. These cameras allow the photographer to actually look through the lens. This means that what you see is what you get. These cameras also provide complete control over the exposure. They have fully automatic mode, specific exposure modes as well as a fully manual mode.
Resolution
Regardless of what type of camera you decide to get you will also have to make the decision about the resolution of the camera.
If you have shopped at one of those electronics superstores you will be lead to believe that the most important thing to consider when purchasing digital cameras is the number of pixels. Although it is important there is much more to deciding on a digital camera than pixels. Pixels are tiny squares, and in new models other shapes, that make up the image. Obviously the more pixels the sharper the image. The more pixels there are the more detailed the image
Almost all of the digital cameras on the market today produce images with at least 4 million pixels. With this resolution you can print images up to 8x10 which will look very good. Since most people do not print images larger than this a camera with 4 million pixels or more should meet all of your needs.
Try Different Cameras Before you Buy
Different cameras can have very different image qualities even though they may have the same number of pixels. This is due to different types and sizes of sensors on which the images are recorded and the various qualities of lens used. It is recommended that you purchase a memory card and take it in with you to the camera store. Then you can try out various cameras by taking photographs on your memory card. You can then take the pictures home and view them on your computer or better yet have them printed at a local lab to compare the results. Make sure to take notes so that you remember which image was taken on which camera.
Digital cameras are constantly changing and being improved upon. Every few months it seems there is a new model out with more pixels and better features at a more affordable price. Do not let this bother you. Take the time to choose a good digital camera which makes quality photographs and enjoy the benefits of digital photography for years to come.
And one last piece of advice. Digital photography has created a new problem. People are not printing their photos anymore. They download them to their computer and then they eventually get lost or deleted. Print those special photographs. Your children will thank you.

Good training practices
To be a good athlete you must have good training practices. Training
practices are more than just what you do on the track; they involve how
you live your day to day life.
Coaching - Seeking out someone with more experience then you is always a good idea. There is no sense re-inventing the wheel when someone has already tested several methods and can save you a lot of time leading to greater effiency in your training.
Be Open - A huge part to becoming an
experienced athlete is to keep your mind open, both to new ideas and to
feedback. Request feedback. Recognize that you don't know everything and
that you can learn a lot from those who are more experienced.
Take it slow
- Set reasonable goals. If you're a twice a week runner, don't expect
to make the upcoming Olympics. Reasonable goals will keep you mentally
fit and motivated to keep training. If you try to take things too
quickly chances are you will get burnt out both mentally and physically.
Injury Prevention
- I don't know of any great athlete that hasn't suffered a injury at
one point in their career, and knows how devastating it can be. An
injury can put an end to a season or an entire career. Be smart in your
running training to best avoid injuries. This can be accomplished by
using the right equipment. Why take the risk of training in year old
running shoes when it's recommended to buy new ones every 6 months?
Proper warm up and cool downs, can greatly decrease your risk of injury.
Not warming up is like driving a car really hard without giving it a
tune up. Your playing with fireworks. This can involve jogging to warm
your muscles up, stretching and other mobility drills to make sure you
are ready to begin your training session.
If you take these things into consideration I have no doubt that you will have success in what ever it is you are training for.

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."
- Dorothy from 'The Wizard of Oz'
We are decision makers.
Everday of our lives, we are presented with choices. We have to decide what clothes to wear, what movie to watch, whether or not to forsake our diets and eat that last slice of pizza, whether we should stay or go…
With these choices, even the most indecisive person must decide on an option. There is no way to go around it, for the mere fact that not deciding to do something is a decision.
And with every decision we make, we lose the one we don't choose.
So, with every choice, an effort must be made to make sure that we not lose the best one.
Over the years, I've come to realize that though I've come across different life situations and perplexities, considerations towards the creation of a good decision were always the same.
These same factors and guidelines prove to be helpful even in deciding whether or not to choose an education abroad or locally:
1. The foundation of every good decision is correct information.
Arm yourself - research, read, study.
With every test and exam you've ever taken, there is nothing like coming in the examination room with a fully-reviewed mind. There is nothing like jotting down the right answer to a question. There is nothing like the security that you know the right information.
By knowing the right answers, you are less likely to falter, less likely to make mistakes, more likely to get top marks, more likely to come up with the best choice…
…and more likely to come to a good decision about your academic fate.
2. Be a realistic and practical idealist.
There is nothing wrong about dreaming big. As a matter of fact - in my opinion - the ability to dream big is an asset. Do not lose it.
However, though a positive mind may take you far, certain situations may still be anchoring you from actually moving offshore. These situations should not deter you from your dreams, but you have to take them into consideration.
A simple tool that has always proven to be effective for me is the 'pro' and 'con' sheet.
This piece of paper can even prove to be useful in coming to a decision about your geographic education.
Jotting down the 'pros' and 'cons' for each option allows you to be objective in a very subjective decision.
A. What are the advantages/disadvantages of an education abroad
Suggested points for consideration:
* educational system
* independence
* financial capability
* others
B. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a local education?
Suggested points for consideration:
* educational system
* proximity to family, friends and the familiar
* certainty
* others
The 'pro' and 'con' sheet will not necessarily allow you to lean towards the option which has the most number of 'pros.' As a matter of fact, 'cons' can actually be the factors that may lead you to a conclusion - if you are willing to do whatever it takes to overcome them to achieve a certain option.
3. Throw caution to the wind, but bring an umbrella.
Nothing ever got accomplished without a little bit of guts and risk-taking.
But bravery is not bravery without fear.
Decision-making does not only entail intellectualizing, but feeling as well. Decisions involve human beings - the whole person. So, the heart and the mind cannot be separated.
Accept your hesitations as real and significant and do jot down why they are so apparent.
So, though sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind, taking into account all your fears and uncertancies can protect you against heavy rains since these feelings make you more cautious and careful when deciding.
4. Know when to listen and when to hear.
Seek advice from others - but know when to 'listen' and when to just 'hear.'
Yes, ears are necessary for both - but, 'listening' and 'hearing' are two different things.
Hearing entails the perception of sounds. Listening, on the other hand, requires attention.
Not all advice or statements given by others will be helpful to you. Unfortunately, sometimes, they can even be damaging.
Hear those who are discouraging to the point of vicious and those who blab on and on about nothing. Merely nod and be on your way.
Listen to those who care about your well-being and those who actually know what they are talking about. First-hand accounts and actual concern make the burden of decision-making a whole lot easier to bear.
And with a big decision such as studying abroad or staying at home, you should welcome all genuine help and concern.
5. Then, decide.
Would your path lead you down the yellow brick road?
Or is there no place like home?

Domain Name Purchase Operation Tips
The domain name purchase is one of the common operations in the internet
world today. Due to its becoming a mainstream name, many domain name
purchase operation experts have decided to provide some of the most
important considerations that will greatly aid in ensuring that the
domain name purchase operation passes off without difficulty.
Completing the domain name purchase operation requires enough time to make the transaction successful. So when the deal is over, of course you have agreed an amount for a domain name that is acceptable to the seller. What will remain is to complete the domain name purchase operation and of course to ensure that you definitely get the domain name and that the seller welcomes their money.
So in order to make sure that the domain name operation passes off without difficulty, it is a necessary thing for you to elucidate the terms of the domain name purchase operation. So if the negotiation has been sustained and has included a much number of emails back and forth, there is a great possibility that the particular terms of the transaction have become speckled across a number of emails. To make the things clear, it is a right move for you to send a new email containing all the terms of the domain name purchase operation and so to ask the people concerned to confirm them as soon as the agreement with the seller is reached
Besides, for completing the domain name purchase operation, you should then specify the steps involved in paying for the domain. In simple terms, it is a necessary thing to decide as soon in the closing phase of the domain name purchase operation as possible on exactly how you will pay for the chosen domain name.
Also of important consideration in completing the domain name purchase operation is to transfer control of the domain name. According to some experts, the exact process for transferring control of the domain name greatly depend in which registrar the domain name is recently registered with. It is also interesting to know that in terms of the registrars, each registrar has a slightly dissimilar process for handling domain transfers.
If you are done with the domain name transfer for completing the domain name purchase operation, you should then confirm the status of the domain name purchase transaction with the seller. It is necessary to remember to adjust the password on your account if you had to give the seller access to your register account as part of the domain name purchase process. And once the domain name purchase operation is over, be sure to send a final message to the seller appreciating the effort of the seller to make the domain name purchase operation a smooth one. That is how the story ends.
Jackie Robinson-A Civil Rights Hero
Jackie Robinson transcended the color barrier in major league baseball
and became a hero for humanity. He was an icon for civil rights and
helped lead the way for other ballplayers. A true inspiration to us all.
An example of bravery and courage. Baseball was simply a vehicle for
Jackie Robinson to bring light to the problems of racism in a time when
racism was high.
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the major leagues in 1947. He was a leader and knew the hardships that would follow. He exhibited extreme bravery and it took a man of Jackie's magnitude to handle all the problems that followed. He was so important to civil rights and helped lead the way for others to follow. An above and beyond leader whose number 42 will never ever be worn again in any major league park.
Having Jackie Robinson debut with the Brookly Dodgers in 1947 was one of the greatest civil rights moments in our history. It was made possible by Branch Rickey who served as the club president and general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was wonderful that Jackie got his chance to play in major league baseball, and it was a tragedy that the fiber of America during that time was so full of racism.
It has taken a man of Jackie's temperament and courage to help change the ugly face of racism in America. Mr. Robinson was a man of a fiery temperament who was asked to stay calm during his first couple of years and handle the pressure. I don't believe any other man could have handled the pressure. And because of his courage and bravery and willingness to stand tall, barriers have been brought down and continue to do so.
It is for these reasons that Jackie Robinson should be so honored. His jersey's number will never ever be worn again. He is an example of others to follow and in his words he stated: "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... all I ask is that you respect me as a human being."
Jackie Robinson will always be a true civil rights hero who just happened to play baseball. Let's not forget the contributions this great man made to humanity. He is an example for all human beings to follow, not just in baseball, but also in life. He made it possible for Arican Americans to cross the color barrier in all sports by leading by example. He had to endure the constant badgering and humiliation at every game. He was cursed at, sneered at, and spit at. He had objects thrown at him on the field. He couldn't go into some places because of his color. But Jackie Robinson held his head high, put one foot in front of the other, and walked proudly. Leaving behind a path for all of us to follow. There has never been a better example of the phrase, "actions speak louder then words". While Jackie was being verbally abused and spit at, he carried on with his actions. He was a leader on and off the field. A true icon who stood for equal rights, the chance to play ball, and for humanity. We salute you Jackie Robinson.

A Brief History Of Credit Cards
Credit cards have nowadays insinuated themselves into all corners of our
lives, and it is rare for an adult these days to not carry at least one
card. As well as being used in the traditional manner to buy goods or
services in person, they are also now used online, over the telephone,
for writing checks, and even for withdrawing money from cash machines.
People use them in all sorts of ways - as a means of borrowing, as a
convenient payment method, and even for earning money through cashback
or reward schemes.
Despite their ubiquity in modern life, credit cards have a fairly short history, with the first general purpose credit card being introduced less than fifty years ago. In this article we'll look at the origins of credit cards, and then at how they've developed over the years with the emphasis on the United Kingdom market.
The very first credit card was launched by Diners Club in 1951, and was limited to use in twenty seven New York restaurants. It wasn't a huge success initially, with only 200 cards being issued. The real story of credit cards began in 1958 with the introduction of two major new products. The first was the American Express charge card, which boasted over a million users within five years of it being launched.
The other innovation was the first example of what we now recognize as a credit card: the Bank Americard, a general purpose card developed by Joseph Williams while working at the Bank of America. Over time, this card was to develop into the Visa company that we know today. Eight years after the introduction of this card, fourteen U.S. banks formed an alliance to launch a rival to the Bank Americard, named Interlink, which was to evolve into the Mastercard payment processor by 1979.
The first UK general card was launched by Barclays Bank in 1967, and their Barclaycard is still one of the most popular and widespread cards forty years later. In 1972, four other UK banks joined forces to launch the Access card in competition with Barclays, and for the next decade or so this remained the status quo. <
It was during the 1980s that the credit card industry began consolidating behind the two big processors that had evolved into their current form by this time, Visa and Mastercard. Banks dropped their own processing facilities, and began to issue cards that could be used at any outlet that supported these two main payment processors. It was this move that led to the great expansion in card use, as they could now be easily used almost anywhere in the world.
The next major change to the industry was the revolutionizing technology of the internet, allowing purely online cards such as Egg in the UK to offer attractive benefits to the cardholder at low cost to the issuers. Competition between lenders quickly heated up, and features such as balance transfer offers began to appear.
Balance transfer deals allowed cardholders to move their debt from card to card and avoid paying any interest on it almost indefinitely, or so it seemed. Unfortunately, this ruse of 'credit card surfing' couldn't last as it was costing the credit industry billions every year, and so a balance transfer fee was imposed which made it much less attractive to cardholders.
The last major change in the credit card industry has been the introduction of Chip and PIN technology which has cut card fraud substantially by requiring payments to be approved via entering a code number rather than relying on a signature. The technology began to be rolled out in the UK in 2004, and is now fully in use across the country.
What's next for credit cards? Only the issuers know, but with record levels of debt many people are reluctant to apply for new cards, and so we're likely to see more attractive features becoming available to new applicants as credit companies compete for the shrinking amount of business available.

How do Underwater Cameras Work?
Underwater Cameras are cameras that are specially designed for
underwater use or in circumstances that requires protection to prevent
any water and pressure damage. There are many types of underwater
cameras, depending on your budget and uses.
There are underwater cameras that are simply disposed of after use. These are the cheapest type of underwater camera available in the market. They have the capacity to take between 20 to 30 pictures, and photos can easily be developed. They are waterproof enough to be used in harsh rain and snow storms, and are usually tolerant of being fully submerged up to twenty or thirty feet.
There are also underwater cameras that are cheap reloadables. These cameras are designed with economy of price in mind. These are very similar to disposable underwater cameras, expect that the user can replace the film and use the camera multiple times. They are usually capable of greater water depths than their disposable counterparts.
New generation cameras have resolutions in the 3-4 megapixel range and can take excellent quality pictures underwater.
These cameras offer options for every level of diver and snorkeler. For the experienced diver/photographer who wants more control over the camera functions. The Advanced-Dive control system allows users to manipulate resolution, light sensitivity (EV), exposure modes and much more while underwaterwhile the Easy-Dive control system is the perfect choice for divers seeking a simple underwater photo system that produces breathtaking results.
Underwater cameras are designed for one-Button-Operation and can be set to Land or Sea modes plus modes that take into account the unique aspects of underwater photography. Cameras also feature three dedicated underwater external flash modes, allowing for more exposure control when using an external flash. For perfectly lit photos in any situation, users can toggle among Macro Flash, Portrait Flash and Far Flash modes, which adjust exposure based on camera-to-subject distance.
While an on-camera flash helps illuminate objects below the surface, cameras are also compatible with external flash units, which ignite the vivid colors of the underwater environment and allows users to illuminate objects from different angles. Because the external flash is a unit activated via the on-camera flash, no sync cord is necessary. Set the camera to "External Flash," and it automatically de-activates the digital pre-flash.
To compensate for low-light conditions that naturally occur as divers travel below the water's surface, cameras can adjust the shutter speed and aperture automatically to compensate for difficult light conditions, ensuring vivid images without worry of underexposure.
Photos can be composed via a large color LCD monitor on the back of the camera; or users can frame subjects through a top-mounted SportsFinder. Either way, composition is simple, even when viewing subjects through a dive mask. To help conserve power during underwater adventures, users often shut off LCD monitors while the camera is on and compose photos using large top-mounted viewfinders.
With the many technological advances of recent years, underwater photographers now no longer have to compromise on quality. Users are almost guaranteed to return to land with a stunning set of images.
